Agility Lead

Job Description

As an Agility Lead, you'll embody and exemplify an agile mindset and are responsible for teaching and motivating teams and Scrum Masters to grow, learn and improve their performance. The Agility Lead will serve as the leader for the community of Scrum Masters across their respective area ensuring guidance, development plans and cohesive performance across their directs. Our Agility Leads are growth minded leaders, committed to relentless improvement, and enjoy working with passionate people. They serve as the Chief Communicator of the Agile Community within their respective area partnering with the Agile Center of Excellence driving out vision and best practices of agility. Relied upon as the resident expert of agile within their respective area reporting to the Technology Executive and collaborating with leadership partners to achieve collective goals. Critical to your success is the ability to effectively build relationships, demonstrate a robust agile and associated techniques capability, execute root cause analysis that is data driven, and effectively communicate with executive leadership to identify areas of opportunity and celebrating wins.

The Agility Lead drives Agile and Lean frameworks that result in quality product delivery and continuous improvement across their respective area by empowering and coaching the Scrum Masters working directly with the teams. They embrace agility as a discipline and responsible for strategically and tactically driving the agile maturation as a Change Agent and Agile Leader within their respective area.

  • Fostering a positive and rewarding environment: by identifying & aggregating key metrics regarding Agile maturation pertaining to the respective area and establishing any action plans, if necessary as a result of those findings

  • Facilitate Agile and/or Scrum events that serve across the broader area - such as Broader Area Retrospectives, Scrum of Scrum (SoS), Agile Community of Practice (CoP), Broader Area Tech Showcase/System Demos, as applicable

  • Establish development plans for their reporting Scrum Masters to ensure they have ample direction, guidance and opportunities for career and skill growth

  • Responsible for addressing any escalation matters raised to them by the Scrum Masters, or pertaining to agile topics or Scrum Master contributions to ensure quality delivery and high performing teams

  • Responsible for any Scrum Master hiring, team alignment or team start up efforts to ensure respective area has the support needed for success

  • Serving as a reporting manager for 6-8 Scrum Masters; in addition to other agility focused responsibilities to improve respective area collectively to achieve the Technology & Product goals

  • Accountable for tool, best practices & processes compliance to support Agile maturation by partnering with the Agile Center of Excellence and other partners

  • Responsible for facilitation and/or driving continuous improvement across respective area with a persistent roadmap to drive those efforts

  • Partner with Technology Executive and leadership to support common goals with an agility lens.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience; Agile Coach Certification preferred

  • Expertise with Agile and Scrum frameworks and their application in Product Development and delivery organization

  • Detailed understanding of software development lifecycle and agile software development practices

  • Ability to collaborate with and influence people at various levels

  • Prior experience in management and developing others

  • Sound understanding of Scaling framework such as LeSS, Scrum@Scale, SAFe (including scaling techniques such as LACE (Lean-Agile Center of Excellence) and various other Agile methodologies such as Kanban, DevOps, XP

  • Required familiarity with coaching software development, data management and/or platform teams and working with all levels of leadership.

  • Proven track record in successful delivery and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to leverage skills from coaching, facilitation, conflict resolution and more to serve the team(s)

  • Possess an executive presence and ability to coach multiple teams across the product

  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology strategies

  • Ability to leverage capabilities across the firm to solve local problems
