About Tax Oriented Investments
J. P. Morgan’s Tax Oriented Investments (TOI) group is part of the Corporate and Investment Bank, based in Chicago, and responsible for investing the Firm’s own capital in tax advantaged earning assets comprising alternative energy projects, equipment leases, and affordable housing investments. The Energy Investments segment includes long-term investments in over 200 alternative energy projects located around the U.S. The Energy Asset Management team is tasked with overseeing and administering
these investments from inception to disposition.
The successful candidate will work in the Energy Asset Management Group within TOI. He/She will be part of a functional area responsible for all aspects of monitoring, maintaining and reporting on a portfolio of project financed alternative energy investments, including wind, solar, geothermal and other energy technologies.
Monitor and analyze monthly operating reports and annual budgets and recommend
follow up with project sponsors or internal/external consultants as needed;
Work directly with clients on a regular basis to investigate issues related to portfolio
Interact with internal and external legal counsel and technical consultants on various
revisions to transaction or project documents;
Become conversant in the intricacies of the transaction (cash flow) investment structures
and the return spreadsheet models; periodically evaluate underlying pro forma
assumptions and recommend revisions as appropriate;
Work closely with TOI Energy origination group in understanding specific deal dynamics
and provide feedback from actual operations to inform decisions on new transactions;
Make presentations to Senior Management regarding portfolio performance;
Establish and oversee asset inspection cycles;
Work with engineering, accounting, and information technology personnel in designing
and maintaining the data for tracking transaction performance;
Provide support and analysis related to asset workouts and dispositions.
Bachelor’s degree; engineering or science major and/or MBA a plus;
At least 3 years of relevant project finance, asset management or banking credit
Strong analytical and credit risk skills;
Strong written and verbal communications skills;
Ability to interact with a variety of colleagues and customers;
Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills;
Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills a plus.
