JPMorgan Chase Business Analyst I in Columbus, Ohio

The Overdraft Collections Business Analysis and Reporting team includes roles related to change management, data gathering, data mining and analysis. Individuals work directly with data and information, creating meaningful analyses, reports and management presentations in support of client, business unit or function activities and performance. Types of analysis and reporting may include: detective controls, quality review, workflow analysis, process improvement, regular business reporting, and/or a variety of other function specific purposes.

As a Business Analyst, you will:

  • Manage change readiness activities

  • Automation of processes

  • Serve as a high level point of contact for business partners

  • Assist cross-functional teams with report delivery

  • Participate in/support complex business analysis and planning for multiple functions or LOBs

  • May have direct, regular and influencing contact with Senior Management

This is an analytical position on the Overdraft Collections Operational Management and Analysis team but will also include aspects of project management and process mapping and improvement. The employee will have a matrixed reporting relationship with several key leaders. The position will require an in-depth understanding of Overdraft Collections, working with business intelligence tools, loss trending and control-related/audit activities. You will conduct analysis to drive key business decisions and/or improve processes. This individual will scrutinize processes for continuous improvement and process automation.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Strong analytical skills with an understanding of statistical analysis and modeling

  2. Skilled with using MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint and SQL. Ideal candidate would also have SAS experience.

  3. Ability to effectively communicate and interface with all levels of staff, including senior management

  4. Discover emerging collections trends through an analysis of historic and current data, including trending and profiling.

  5. Work with Risk, BP&A, Strategy, and others to maximize data intelligence and performance.


  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in large scale operations tea

  • Bachelor’s Degree or comparable experience in similar work streams

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong team relationships

  • Experience with Control-related activities / processes

  • Clear understanding of Data Mining and Analytics

  • Prior experience building queries and reporting through SQL, Oracle, and SAS (preferred)

  • Experience in the automation of aggregating and analyzing large amounts of data.

  • Ability to coordinate, work with and gain the trust of business stakeholders, technical resources, and third-party vendors.

  • Knowledge of computers and the processing of data.

  • Ability to identify control gaps and recommend remediation strategies on a regular basis.
