JPMorgan Chase Control Manager, Associate in Columbus, Ohio

Join our Controls team in Consumer & Community Banking (CCB), the firm's largest Line of Business. This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic team in a fast paced and challenging area.

As a Control Manager, Associate in CCB Finance and Business Management, you will be responsible for ensuring the execution of the Firmwide SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404) and CCAP (CCAR CFO Attestation Program) control framework for the Home Lending Line of Businesses. You will support these objectives by providing subject matter expertise on assessing matters relating to Home Lending financial and regulatory reporting controls and control issues.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with stakeholders in Home Lending Line of business to gain an understanding of key processes impacting Financial and regulatory reporting

  • Perform control design and process walkthroughs within Home Lending Line of Business. Assess and perform controls testing to ensure that controls are operating effectively

  • Prepare work-papers and documentation in accordance with the SOX CCAP program requirements and best practices

  • Monitor ongoing changes to the business, assess impact on SOX CCAP controls and adjust design and operational effectiveness testing, as needed

  • Use business knowledge as well as SOX CCAP framework requirements to identify control gaps and weaknesses requiring you to perform a root cause analysis of control breaks

  • Track and communicate overall progress, ensuring complete and timely reporting on program status to senior management stakeholders

  • Partner with Internal and External Audit teams to provide information and support, as needed

  • Participate in corporate and business level working group meetings

  • Support specific initiatives and/or projects based on business needs

  • Support the team oriented culture of the Controls group

Required qualifications, skills and capabilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required

  • Ability to maintain high ethical standards with a drive to achieve the right answer in difficult and/or ever changing situations

  • Problem solving / Analytical skills - solid critical thinking, attention to detail and analytical skills

  • Ability to understand the business / understanding of internal controls, particularly internal controls over Financial Reporting

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to influence business leaders in a meaningful and actionable manner

  • Strong interpersonal skills; strong collaboration and relationship building skills

  • Ability to work autonomously to affect change - flexible, adaptable to shifting priorities; manage competing priorities to achieve the most effective result

  • Strong project management skills including ability to manage multiple tasks, self-prioritized tasks and meet deadlines

Preferred qualifications, skills and capabilities:

  • Experience in financial services industry with background in controls, audit, quality assurance, operational risk management, public accounting or compliance preferred; or equivalent subject matter expertise in Home Lending / Mortgage Banking businesses

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
