The Office of the Firmwide Chief Data Officer is designed to support the Bank in driving governance, policy adherence and strategy for firmwide data. The Firmwide Data Management Office drives business impact by organizing, improving, and connecting the Firm’s data. The program aims to deliver for critical business initiatives, improve data tools and capabilities, and improve the quality, use, and overall management of data.
This role will sit within the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) organization and interact extensively with CDO teams including, but not limited to, Data Quality, Data Use, Data Network Architecture, Data Control, Information Architecture, and Data Integration in efforts to achieve the objectives of the Firmwide Chief Data Management Office. The role is dynamic, fast moving, and requires interaction with a myriad of stakeholders within Firmwide Data Management (FDM) and across other lines of business and corporate functions.
Lead the FDM organization in migrating onto a dynamic Project Portfolio Management (PPM) platform/tool to do real-time resource management (e.g., time tracking, capacity management) and financial management (actuals vs. forecast) across the portfolio
Participate in the development of guidelines and standards for FDM’s Portfolio Management Office (PMO); supporting the 100+ PM community in maturing the sophistication of project delivery, throughout the full project lifecycle (from project concept & scoping, through to closure)
Support creation of materials for, and socialization of, associated FDM PMO guidelines and expectations with Project Management (PM) community
Conduct onboarding for new PMs joining FDM throughout the year (e.g., approach for getting them ‘up-to-speed’, orientation to our tooling, website, processes, expectations)
Review, reconcile and conduct quality assurance on the FDM Project Portfolio across the tooling ecosystem (SharePoint Inventory, OPTIC CTB Status Reporting, Clarity Resource/Financial Mgmt); ensure consistency in project metadata across PMO tooling, including project naming conventions, key contact roles, milestones, RAG status, etc.
Collaborate and influence 100+ PM community to ensure effective controls across the lifecycle of project delivery
Lead the new project start process, and in-flight project closure process, including tracking/monitoring of upcoming starts and closures to proactively engage PMs; facilitate documentation from associated PMs, including quality reviews, finalizing agendas for approval with the leadership team
Conduct quality reviews for in-flight/execution projects to ensure thoroughness, completeness and accuracy of Project Manager status reports prior to portfolio status reviews with senior leadership and work with PMs to address gaps before briefings
Operationalize a new project change control process, for in-flight projects with significant scope
Lead the process for annual portfolio planning (e.g., 2019 portfolio planning process) and drive quarterly resource and financial re-baselining processes
Collaborate across the 10-15 functional areas within FDM to align project portfolio planning with financial planning processes, annually and to conduct quarterly refreshes on the portfolio
Oversee portfolio-level resource and cost aggregation, ensuring costs and resources are tied to projects, accurately reflect reality, and tell a meaningful story at the overall FDM level
Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred
7+ years of related work experience; minimum 5 years of previous experience working on complex financial projects / programs
Experience driving a portfolio management office, including resource management and financial management
Experience with Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools (e.g., Clarity PPM) in support of a large portfolio’s financial and resource management activities
Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as attention to detail
Ability to demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills – including ability to anticipate, access and determine solution
Strong relationship building skills, demonstrated consultative approach and influencing skills
Ability to work effectively in a high pressure, agile work environment
Solid work ethic and strong sense of ownership of end result
