This Infrastructure Development role in the Mainframe Operating Systems team, within the Enterprise Compute Services (ECS) organization, is responsible for the installation, configuration, and support of highly resilient and stable Mainframe infrastructure through automated scripting rather than manual processes. In addition to traditional Mainframe Systems Programming skills the ideal candidate will have experience with software-driven systems management using various scripting languages (such as JCL, REXX, PERL, PHP, PYTHON, JYTHON, and zOSMF Workflows) and will also have an aptitude and a passion for developing software systems to solve complex problems through automation tools. The ideal candidate will also be familiar with RESTful APIs using Swagger (or similar framework), be passionate about technology, and open to new ideas and ways to manage Mainframe infrastructure software.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including;

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience

  • A minimum of 5+ year’s direct hands-on experience working in a large, complex technology area.

  • Mainframe skills including a strong understanding of z/OS Concepts, JCL, JES, SDSF, VSAM, Catalog management, SMP/E, USS, Parallel Sysplex, IBM system utilities

  • Provide technical expertise throughout the software lifecycle including design, implementation and delivery

  • Understanding cloud , virtualization, APIs, and modern software languages

  • Software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages: JCL, REXX, PERL, PHP, PYTHON, JYTHON

  • Experience with developing frameworks that helps increasing developer and release velocity, improving code health and technical standards

  • Proficient knowledge across Hardware Architecture (performance testing, monitoring, operations), Hardware Benchmarking (Agile, program managements, network management), Design (compliance, security), Network Engineering (planning, provision)

  • Understanding or have experience with agile and lean philosophies

  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills with clear communication

  • Ability to collaborate with different roles to achieve common goals
