Executive Director – Middle Market Financial Sponsors Group (Technology Coverage)

OVERVIEW:

Middle Market Financial Sponsors Group (“MMFSG”) is part of the Middle Market Banking and Specialized Industries vertical within Commercial Banking. Executive Directors will liaise with a targeted set of Private Equity Groups (“PEGs”) as a means to source new clients, transactions, and cross selling opportunities with the ultimate goal of capturing broader investment banking, commercial banking, and asset management share of wallet within the PEG’s portfolio. Executive Directors will focus on a select group of PEGs within the U.S. and Canada with a core focus on firms who specialize and target technology investments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Origination:

  • Primary responsibility for establishing and maintaining relationships with a select group of middle market PEGs with a core focus on technology based investment firms. Focus will be on clients with current fund sizes ranging from $100MM to $1.0BN which are not currently covered by the Investment Banking Financial Sponsors Group.

  • Work closely with the MMBSI Technology team to support and help build the industry franchise via partnership role and connectivity with related PEGs.

  • Originate new investment banking, commercial banking, and asset management opportunities. These opportunities include equity and debt capital markets, treasury services, and corporate finance.

  • Engage with investment banking and commercial banking teams to assure product partners have access to key decision makers within targeted PEGs.

  • For transactions involving PEGs, serve as team leader and deal architect in coordination with Investment Banking and Commercial Banking leaders, as well as various product groups.

  • Maintain ongoing connectivity role between portfolio client, banker team, and sponsor owner.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with a select group of non-bank lenders who would make appropriate partners within JPMorgan Chase transactions.

Transaction Execution and Support:

  • Pre-screen financing opportunities originated from targeted sponsors within MMFSG to assess feasibility and interest level. Provide guidance on investment thesis and key business risks to core credit executives and commercial lending teams.

  • For those transactions passing the screen, lead in the formation of broader deal teams

  • Determine appropriate capital structure(s) in conjunction with commercial banking credit officers, bankers, and appropriate equity / debt capital markets partners.

  • Manage team members in early stage due diligence and transaction review.

  • Partner seamlessly in diligence process, management meetings, and documentation negotiation to ensure consistency of client interaction and terms with targeted PEGs.

  • Bachelors' degree from a top tier university, top tier MBA degree preferred

  • 8-10 years of experience within Commercial or Investment Banking, PEG experience preferred

  • Transaction experience within Leveraged Finance or Investment Banking organizations

  • Exposure or direct experience within the technology sector

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with institutional clients

  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders to ensure seamless client delivery

  • Effective and professional verbal and written communication

  • FINRA licenses 79 & 63 required or will need to be obtained as part of employment
