J.P. Morgan Intelligent Digital Solutions (IDS) is a newly developed division of J.P. Morgan Asset & Wealth Management – one of the largest asset and wealth mangers in the world, with client assets of $2.8 trillion and assets under management over $2 trillion (Assets as of June 2018).
The IDS Big Data and Analytics team primarily focuses on using statistical analysis, modeling techniques, and deep learning methods to drive innovative solutions for data-driven investment insights, improved client engagement, and operational effectiveness.
We are seeking a talented individual in our sourcing and engineering team to assist with the acquisition and management of external and internal data from both a business and engineering angle. As our name implies, we are working to pull in immense amounts of big data, including JPM proprietary data, existing market data, and newly sourced data.
This role will span the entire data sourcing process, from finding and engaging with external vendors and internal businesses, writing the codes, working with/building the databases to capture and store the data, and ensuring appropriate data use and distribution. Key Technical Responsibilities:
Build data pipelines to pull together information from different source systems; integrating, consolidating and cleansing data; and structuring it for use in individual analytics applications
Own a wide variety of technical projects using a combination of Windows and UNIX based applications, including big data technologies and relational databases as well as several proprietary in-house file and database systems distributed over multiple sites
Provide technical expertise for database development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis to enable high availability, continuous scaling and performance improvement
Work closely with software engineering groups on schema, index, and query design to support application development
Key Business Responsibilities:
Research available data providers to fulfil needs or provide new innovations, and work to engage and negotiate a deal
Complete competitor and pricing analyses to evaluate which vendors to engage with
Collaborate with financial experts and software engineers to design data models
Identify unique opportunities for strategic partnerships and acquisitions and work on the deals
Experience writing code in both Java and Python
Experience and ability to work with data manipulation and write SQL queries
Experience working with large structured and/or unstructured data sets
Experience with Shell scripting and Unix
Strong business communication and writing skills
Very well organized and detailed oriented
Experience with Microsoft Office Applications (PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Word, etc.)
