JPMorgan Chase Data Controllers and Reporting - Executive Director in Newark, Delaware

Step into a dynamic role at JPMorgan Chase as an External Reporting Data Controller. The external reporting function handles the oversight of the financial statements and management reporting, ensuring a sound control environment; understands and applies the accounting treatments and ensures compliance with appropriate corporate and regulatory requirements; aids the preparation of quarterly regulatory requirements; validates balance sheet items and understands balance sheet usage and reporting.

As an External Reporting Data Controller for US Regulatory Reporting, you will be a vital part of our multi-location team. Your role will involve supporting the execution of data controls and reporting milestones, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to regulators. You will play a key role in maintaining data integrity and adhering to our governance framework and control operating model across various Corporate Reporting processes. This role offers you the opportunity to contribute to the scalability and sustainability of our firm's financial disclosures.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership to a team of 30+ financial professionals based in Delaware in the U.S., and Bangalore in India. This provides the individual the opportunity to work across different geographies, building an organization that can handle the demands of internal and external stakeholders, while continuing to drive process improvements and the adoption of advanced technologies. The candidate should be able to design and follow a robust control environment for regulatory reporting and data integrity.

This role is located in Newark, Delaware.

Job responsibilities

  • Set the strategic vision and overseeing development of strategic plans for new asset classes and schedules on the firmwide strategic architecture

  • Lead data completion and accuracy for quarterly business results with various lines of business, Regulatory Controllers and SEC reporting teams

  • Streamline business process improvements and technology enhancements

  • Lead teams engaging with cross lines of business, functions and geographies

  • Coordinate financial data consolidation for quarterly business results with various lines of business, Regulatory Controllers and SEC reporting teams

  • Execute responsibilities as information owner for Finance Reporting Infrastructure (FRI)

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts around data quality review and external reporting improvement projects

  • Participate in various strategic forums to enable design reviews, enhancement feedback and provide inputs

  • Ensure data integrity by identifying and overseeing the implementation of data quality controls within Finance applications and upstream Line of Business applications

  • Ensure robust pre and post month end/quarter end data analysis, metrics and monitoring, and ensuring consistency in approach across data sets

  • Adhere to control procedures to ensure accurate reconciliation between regulatory filings, SEC filings and other published financial reports (e.g., Form 10-Q, Annual Report/Form 10-K, Call Report & FR Y-9C, Pillar III, etc)

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree with 12+ years of experience in financial institution

  • Experience in Financial Controller or Product Controller or Financial and Regulatory Reporting or equivalent

  • Strong team leadership and organizational management skills

  • Ability to synthesize complex topics into simple messages

  • Ability to prioritize and manage expectations

  • Strong partnership and influencing skills along with excellent written and verbal communication

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • CPA or equivalent certification is preferred

  • Proven ability to leverage technology to improve processes as well as drive innovation
