As a Wholesale Credit Risk Public Finance Associate within our Plano, TX-based team, you will be responsible for managing lending activities and other counterparty related credit exposures. You will be part of a team that is organized by industry, where Wholesale Credit Risk Managers take the lead in client credit relationships, working in close partnership with Coverage and Product business colleagues

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily risk demands of a portfolio of clients, evaluating and executing on a variety of transactions for banks and public finance entities

  • Work directly on transactions including analysis of client and preparation of credit materials, discussions with bankers, negotiating of legal documentation, setup of facilities, coordinating with middle office teams and ongoing monitoring of clients post transaction approval.

  • Build strong relationships and maintain open communication channels with colleagues across the firm, including Bankers, Operations, Legal, Middle Office, Finance, etc.

  • Track the clients on an ongoing basis and update key stakeholders on key developments with regards to clients or industry and potential impact on credit rating

  • Keep abreast of changing legislation, governmental actions and economic trends that impact various US Government, and Municipal and Not-For-Profit sectors and clients.

  • Train, develop, and work with Analysts to create and review new proposals and maintain updated credit assessments on a large portfolio of existing clients

  • Provide leadership and input into key projects across the department, and contribute to process and efficiency improvement initiatives of the Credit organization

Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities

  • At least 4 years professional work experience in financial services.(investment banking or similar)

  • Possesses a solid understanding of financial products and market dynamics

  • Knowledge/experience of derivative products and documentation (including ISDA and CSA)

  • Experience with structures and documentation for tax-exempt financing

  • Strong communication skills - both oral and written

  • Ability to effectively present analysis and interact with key stakeholders

  • Capability to perform due diligence and negotiation with clients

  • Deadline orientation; close attention to detail and accuracy; ability to perform under pressure

  • Ability to work proactively & independently as well as in a team environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships with key stakeholders across lines of business
