JPMorgan Chase Architect - Chief Technology Office in Wilmington, Delaware

The Chief Technology Office (CTO) for JPMorgan Chase oversees enabling components inclusive of the top quality engineering and architecture tools and practices required to make us a leading technology company. We will drive firmwide efforts in such critical areas as Cloud Enablement & Adoption, Technology Portfolio Management and Rationalization, Platform and API Strategy, Development Tooling and Practices, Big Data and Machine Learning services, Data Architecture, Reference Architecture, and Technology Data Management.

This position is firm-wide in scope and will require significant collaboration, influence, and leadership across all technology organizations that support all lines of business and functional areas (e.g. Risk, Finance, Compliance etc).

The Technology Data Management organization in CTO has a specific mandate to improve and transform the data needed to run a Global Technology organization in JP Morgan Chase. We will accomplish this by strengthening governance and quality of the data that is critical to managing our technology assets and operations, and converging onto streamlined applications and data sources that are bound by a common logical data model.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Lead the analysis and design work for essential technology data management use cases

  • Work across all corporate technology and line-of-business technology teams to design solutions

  • Develop pre-concept architecture designs to support delivery of new firm-wide capabilities or enhancements to existing capabilities

  • Pragmatic use of TOGAF skills to determine the appropriate architecture deliverables for the task at hand

  • Understanding of multiple business functions/technologies across JPMC; able to leverage capabilities across the firms to solve local problems

  • Knowledge of industry wide technology strategies

  • Identify new use cases or stories for solving technology data challenges across the firm

  • Engage stakeholders to capture future state technology data needs

  • Engage technology groups in GTI, CTC, and the LOB’s to define the future state technology requirements and get commitment for delivery

  • Work with federated delivery organizations to construct an integrated delivery roadmap

  • Be a leader on key projects that deliver meaningful change to the firm

Preference is for this position to be in Wilmington, DE.

Basic Qualifications

  • Expert-level communication skills

  • Expert-level skills in application, data, infrastructure, and information architecture disciplines

  • Experience with private, public or hybrid cloud design patterns

  • Hands-on leadership experience in one or more architecture disciplines with preference towards application, business or information architecture

  • Expert practitioner in the area of technical design documentation methodologies and technologies (User Stories, UML, Object-Modeling, etc.).

  • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle and agile software delivery best practices.

  • Experience providing written and verbal communications with technical and non-technical audiences

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence decision making in a federated, multi-stakeholder environment

  • Skilled at bringing about clarity in a complex environment and/ or ambiguous situations

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field

  • Minimum of 10 years of IT Experience

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of modern application design patterns and deployment architectures including microservices, robotics, lambdas etc

  • Knowledge of modern analytical techniques such as machine learning, artificial intelligence etc.

  • Experience or familiarity with a variety of data management technologies including relational databases, triple stores, analytical data environments, NoSQL databases etc.

  • Certified in The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF)

  • Demonstrated ability to apply TOGAF judiciously to design enterprise solutions that are executable

  • Demonstrates an expert level understanding of architecture & design concepts and processes

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques in a highly complex environment using technology and/or integrating diverse user systems.

  • Hands-on experience with modeling tools such as Erwin, Magicdraw, etc.

  • Strong project management mindset
