Associate – Business Management

This role is responsible for the Operating Expense reporting, forecasting, analytics, expense management and process management supporting Consumer Card Technology.

Stakeholders and Groups Supported in the Role

The Associate will support senior management within Consumer Card Technology and their direct reports. Other stakeholders supported by this role are: JPMC Corporate management and finance, Business Unit CFOs and their Finance teams, the Operating Expense team and senior finance management. This role requires the ability to communicate information concisely, both verbally and in presentation form, and the ability to work closely with senior management to assist them in balancing finance and business goals.

General Requirements for Role

General responsibilities are to assist senior business leaders and their teams, CFOs and business unit staff in understanding operating expenses and the drivers of those expenses, recommending actions that the business can take to reduce their expenses and determining the expense impact of business strategy changes.

More specific responsibilities:

  • Preparing accurate and timely consolidated monthly reports for senior management and finance management

  • Preparing Budgets and Forecasts

  • Partnering with business areas to achieve expense and headcount efficiencies

  • Effectively analyzing variances of actual results to budget and forecast and providing meaningful recommendations and observations for expense management

  • Preparing presentations for Senior Management

  • Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills for partnering with business and finance managers

  • Developing cross-functional knowledge in understanding impact of expense processes in both finance and other business areas within the bank

  • Driving process improvement within expense management to enhance reporting and gain efficiencies

  • Participating in the Card Services expense approval process, Demand Management, business case development and approval process, and all other expense-driven processes

  • Demonstrating strong problem solving skills, especially in a fast-paced environment

  • Proactively taking ownership of financial data and elevating any issues

  • BS in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.

  • Graduate degree or CPA license preferred.

  • Minimum of five years of financial and analytical experience.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.

  • Experienced in analysis of monthly financial performance.

  • Advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Office.

  • Hyperion Essbase and SAP experience preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills, including good judgment and decision-making abilities.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with a variety of individuals and business partners.

  • Good time management and work prioritization skills.
